MANILA, Philippines — In the latest episode of BNC’s “Lifestyle Lab,” anchor Marie Lozano confronted her aversion to the cold through a series of frosty wellness treatments.

“I really, really hate the cold—but anything for the show,” Lozano confessed at the start.

The episode kicked off with Lozano teaming up with actress Bela Padilla, an avid fan of cold plunges. Together, they took on a daring challenge at Optima Wellness—submerging themselves in 7°C water for three minutes.

Although hesitant at first, Lozano managed to power through the plunge. “My skin was tingling, and I felt a surge of energy—a combination of adrenaline and the joy of overcoming a fear,” she shared.

Padilla, however, went a step further, staying submerged for an impressive four minutes.

The episode also featured the “Fire and Ice” event, organized by Vida Yoga and Optima Wellness. Cold plunge expert David Jacob spoke about the practice’s benefits for both body and mind.

“The idea of cold plunge is to put your body in a state of hormesis—a gentle stress. This stress helps the body become more resilient, fighting off everyday issues like inflammation caused by pollution and lifestyle,” Jacob explained.

Lozano continued her cold therapy journey with a cryotherapy session, enduring temperatures as low as -190°C to showcase its rejuvenating effects.  Throughout the intense experience, Lozano sang Idina Menzel’s “Let It Go.”

To wrap up, Lozano tried the Ultra Clear cold fiber laser facial, the first of its kind in the Philippines. The treatment demonstrated how cold technology can promote a radiant, tightened complexion and enhance overall skin health.
